Rich Moore talkin bout life and
times with 'The Children'...
I became involved with the Children in 1967, upon my
return home from my tour of duty with the USN, where I had been
taught electronics, so I was able to sort out the problems with
the p.a. and amps for the band.
I would also transport the gear to the gigs in San Antonio
and Houston in my
1953 Cadillac Meteor Hearse, until it died and we bought a stepvan
that used to be an ice-cream truck........what trips those were
!!!!
I moved to Houston with the band, after my gig at "Hemis-fair
'68" ended...I
was with the 'on-grounds entertainment' division. I worked the
amphitheatre,
and worked with several troupes of roving players and dancers
throughout the fair site.
I have good memories...lol...of "Love Street Light Circus
and Feel Good
Machine" on Allen's Landing in downtown Houston. Working
with "Murph", in highly altered states, moving a Hammond
B-3 complete with Leslie box, up the three flights of stairs....I
was a much younger and dumber man....LOL.
I also worked as a recording engineer at Andrus Productions
in Houston, where the Children cut "Rebirth".....I
was the engineer on the demo of "Francine", that Lou
Adler thought was ' cute ' and decided not to record.
I lived with the band for a couple of years, and with Louis
Cabaza for some
years after, since he and I worked in the same place, the Village
Inn Pizza
Parlor on Westheimer in Houston. It was an amazing place. A family
pizza
place, until about 8:00pm, when the entertainment began. Dean
Scott was the main draw, although David Boyce and Rex Cramer
were also extermely popular
......these were all 'show' bands. I toured with Louis and Dean
Scott. |
