HARLAN GLENN REMEMBERS .......
I saw my old band listed-and flattered at that. I am Harlan
Glenn the original Vocalist / screamer for the band, formed by
myself and Scott Wolmac. There is one error, in that I was with
the band a good year after the 1st LP was released-I did not
leave soon after it's release. We did many a show in ol' SA,
and around Texas until it was apparent that the band as a whole
did not want to pursue a professional musical career. Scott always
dreamed of being an A&R rep and years later he got his wish.
Bobby is the only one to
stay with music and has done well as you know. I moved to LA
to find a band that was serious and would go the distance...from
1987 to 1992 I looked yet never found one. My closest opportunity
came with a band called NO Sympathy where SBK records wanted
to sign us-had it not been for a guitarist whom had his head
up his ass-it would have happened...oh well-I had my fun with
Juggernaut-we had a TERRIFIC local fan base in San Antonio-truly
I must say, we had a VERY loyal following! it is sad that the
rest of the band could not be bothered to do a going away/last
concert. I had actually booked one yet with only weeks to the
show-they decided that they had had enough of me and did not
feel that they owed the fans a proper goodbye-which to this day
I find quite selfish. For those of you out there who followed
us-THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT! You are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was such a great feeling to have to walk out on stage and
play for the likes of YOU! Thank you!!!!!! We took you by storm
and what fun it was bashing your little heads into the floor
of the stages that we played upon-and with each show YOU were
there to support us-few others can say they had great fans and
supporters like YOU!! Thank you for some treasured memories!
Juggernaut was fun-yet without label support or the full time
dedication of the band we were destined to only go as far as
we did. Some dream of being a "rock star" and when
they find out that it takes hard work and more hard work-they
seem to lose interest. We did accomplish out first original goals
of being one of the best bands in SA, and more so of being the
first band in SA to be on a REAL label. Metal Blade Records was
not by any means Atlantic or CBS-yet to a bunch of local guys
that was more than any other band had at that time accomplished
and we were all very proud of that. Our first Lp did
very well in Europe selling some 62,000 copies, yet in the states
it did not do well as Metal Blade was not a company to advertise
or put money into a band. We did well in Europe thanks to the
multitude of fanzines-they made us and if we had ever toured
Europe we would have had some wonderfully attended shows-I remember
getting on average 4 letters a day from European fans-they were
so gracious and appreciative!
Metal Blade asked us to do a 2nd LP, one year after out first,
yet Bobby had quite from frustration with the type of music we
were playing - Bobby was more into progressive jazz-he was the
one true musician of the band-he could play anything! I left
the band as we could not find a replacement and the new songs
were not what I wanted to play. I knew that I wanted to go the
distance-yet had to be able to survive off my music...things
did not look good, starved in LA for years-it was quite a culture
shock! After years of
trying I decided that I had had enough of musicians as most here
were so flaky, say one thing and do another that I knew for the
time I invested I wanted more to show for then sleeping on someone's
floor and eating little to nothing:-) Acting is much like being
a musician, yet the actors are flakier!! ahahahaahah!!! One had
to try to find out first hand: -) The grass may seem greener
yet it is the same color or sometimes even browner on the other
side of the fence!:-)
Juggernaut was fun-and to get as far as we did-we all should
be grateful and happy as others never get out of the garage!
From 1992 to 1998 I worked as a professional actor, in commercials
(Sega), television episodic (Picket fences, Murphy brown, Can't
Hurry Love, Blood Hounds Inc.) and film (pvt Ryan, American History
X), and a reoccurring spot on Jay Leno as the Hari Krishna Policeman
and the Martian. Yep that little green guy was me:-) From 1999
I have been working as a full time Military Coordinator for the
series Suicide Missions, Dangerous Missions, and now Mail Call
as seen on the History Channel. I also write books (Schiffer
publishing) on military arms, uniforms and equipment, as well
as article for Military Classics magazine. I am now directing
segment work...all military related and loving it ..funny what
a far cry from tossing live rats into the audience!!!:-)
best regards,
